私は「愛すること」をテーマに制作活動を行っています。東京藝術大学の歴史をリサーチしていく中で、戦時中の藝大生が残した絵画資料に出会いました。当時の日本では学徒出陣も多く動員され、その中には東京美術学校生（現東京藝術大学生）も含まれています。そのため、戦時中の藝大絵画資料の中には出征直前に描かれたものも多くあります。生と死が隣り合う世界で、彼らの絵画のモチーフとなったのは恋人や家族でした。彼らの絵から、世の中の状況がどれほど酷くても人の心の中に不可侵の世界があるのだと感じずにはいられません。彼らが命がけで残したperfect fieldになんとか応答したい、彼らと一緒に平和を祈り続けたいと思い今作を制作しました。
I engage in production activities with the theme of “loving.” While researching the history of the Tokyo University of the Arts, I encountered the university’s paintings from the wartime era. Many students were mobilized for military service in Japan at the time, including students at the Tokyo Fine Arts School (now Tokyo University of the Arts). Therefore, many of these paintings must have been completed just before the students were called into service. In a world where life and death existed side by side, the motifs of their paintings were their loved ones and family members. When I see these paintings, I cannot help but feel that there is an inviolable world in the hearts of people, no matter how horrible the circumstances of the world. I created this work because I wanted to somehow respond to the perfect field they had protected at the risk of their lives. I wanted to keep praying for peace with them.
