山に登った時の体験が作品の根底にある。 丸太という人一人の力じゃ手に負えない素材をどのように扱えばいいか悩んでいた時期のこと。 山を歩いていると黄金に輝く物体を見た。その正体は折れた枝の無数の繊維が光を乱反射して輝いていたものだった。 私はその中に、生物としては死んだけど剥き出しの生命力と無数に束ねられた繊維の記憶からの解放を見た。 そして丸太をスライスして内包されている記憶と木目の景色を解放することでこの体験を作品として昇華した。
This work is inspired by an experience I had when climbing a mountain. At the time, I had difficulty handling a log, something that was too much for a single person to manage. As I walked the mountain trail, I saw something golden and shiny. It was light reflecting off the countless fibers in a fractured branch. Although the branch was dead, I saw the tree’s life force exposed in the light, and I saw the bundle of countless fibers released from the tree’s memory. By sawing a log, I released the memory and grain pattern embedded therein. I have sublimated this experience in this piece of art.

Born in 2000 in Hyogo Prefecture. In 2019, he enrolled at the Department of Sculpture, Tokyo University of Arts. In 2023, he graduated and started a master’s course in sculpture (at the university’s Graduate School of Fine Arts). His work focuses on memory and time embedded in physical objects. Also in 2023, his work was selected for the Spiral Independent Creators’ Festival 24, and he earned the A-tom Art Award.
