「Katharsis」はステレオタイプに挑戦し、女性を力づけ、文化的な対話を促し、美しさを再定義し、芸術の力で文化の壁を越えて人々を団結させるアートパフォーマンスであり、それらはすべて理解と団結を通じた幅広い平和のメッセージに貢献します。髪の毛とカルドゥーン（Kardoune）と呼ばれる布で作られた長さ10メートルの彫刻を焼くというこのパフォーマンスは、美のスタンダードや文化的なアイデンティティを取り巻く歴史的な複雑さを浮き彫りにする、率直で純然たる行為です。カルドゥーンはアルジェリアの布で、伝統的に女性の髪の毛を真っすぐに伸ばす目的できつく巻きつけるために用いられてきました。アルジェリアの女性にとって、この心地悪く痛みを伴う美容の慣習は、昔のフランスの植民地的な美のスタンダードに従うためによく採用されてきたものです。そのような慣習がまったくもって異質であり、フランスとアルジェリアによる植民地時代の歴史にも未だに馴染みのない日本の文脈では、カルドゥーンを燃やすことは破壊的な行為になります。アイデンティティや美しさに関する理想に対し今も尾を引く植民地主義の影響を思い起こさせる行為なのです。 火は破壊することも、変形させることも、生み出すことも、浄化することも、清め落とすこともできます。この点火の儀式を通じて、アーテイストは象徴物そのものを芳香として用い、この題材が抱えるあらゆる象徴や問題を解放し、清めるという非言語的な機会をもたらしているのです。
"Katharsis" is an art performance which challenges stereotypes, empowering women, promoting cultural dialogue, redefining beauty, and using art to unite people across cultures, all of which contribute to the broader message of peace through understanding and unity. The performance, which involves burning a 10-metre-long sculpture made from hair and fabric called kardoune, is a stark and direct action that exposes the historical complexities surrounding beauty standards and cultural identity. The kardoune is an Algerian fabric traditionally used to tightly wrap around women's hair with the intention of straightening it. For Algerian women, this uncomfortable and painful beauty practice was often adopted to conform to former French colonial beauty standards. In a Japanese context, where such a practice is entirely foreign and where Franco-Algerian colonial history is still unfamiliar, burning a kardoune becomes a disruptive act. It serves as a reminder of the enduring impact of colonialism on identity and beauty ideals. Fire can destroy, transform, create, purify, purge... Through this ritual of firing, the artist is using the significator itself as an incense, providing a non-verbal opportunity to release and cleanse all the symbolisms and problematics the subject carry.

2000年にフランスに生まれ。イネス・ジャスミンはビジュアルアーティストであり、彼女によるマルチメディアの実践は写真、パフォーマンス、インスタレーションと多岐にわたる。フランス人でもアルジェリア人でもあり、さらに都会的でも農村的でもあるイネスは多文化的な環境の下で育ち、彼女の熟考やアーティストとしての実践は二元性や交差の概念に深く根差している。イネスは文化的アイデンティティ、ジェンダー問題、移民、亡命、忘却、赦し、そして世代を超えたトラウマを癒すプロセスとしての芸術に関心を持つ。また、彼女は親密な関係やカラフルなネイルも楽しむ。
Born 2000 in France. Inès Jasmine is a visual artist whose multi-media practice spans across photography, performance and installation. Raised in a mixed culture, both French and Algerian, but also urban and rural, her reflection and artistic practice are deeply rooted in the notion of dualities and intersections. She’s interested in cultural identity, gender issues, immigration, exile, forgetting, forgiveness, and art as a process of healing transgenerational trauma. She also enjoys intimacy and having colourful nails.
