お湯を沸かすときは、やかんの口から細く湯気が立ち始め、大きく広がって見えなくなります。温度差によるものですが、螺旋状に上がる時やクラゲのような形をしながら上がることもあります。 木は同様に空へ伸びるものではありますが、何より実体が有ります。制作に扱った木は大きく歪んだ特徴がありましたが、木の軸とその広がりを触知的に彫刻として表現しました。
When water boils in the kettle, a thin column of vapor rises from the spout. It then disperses and fades away. Sometimes, though, the vapor forms a spiral or a jellyfish-like shape—a result of temperature difference. Trees, likewise, rise skyward. However, they have a solid form. The trees that I feature in my work are markedly distorted in shape. I used sculpture to palpably represent the trees' central axis and the twisting, spiraling expanse of the tree crowns.

KIKUCHI TORASUKE
山梨県北杜市 小淵沢町出身 映画における可視化できない立体性を軸に制作。幼少期自身を支えてくれた「映画」というジャンルに着目し、その没入する感覚や身体と思考の乖離した状態をイメージの一部として造形に取り組む。
KIKUCHI TORASUKE was born in the town of Kobuchizawa in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. His work represents three dimensionality that cannot be visualized in film. Focusing on film, a genre that inspired him in his childhood, KIKUCHI TORASUKE creates works representing the sensation of immersion in a film and the state of separation between body and thought. These creative arts constitute part of the moving image.
