新世界より

「新世界より」では人間と自然との間に一片の争いのない真の平和を描きました。画面には人間の文明が木々に飲み込まれ、自然に帰化する様が描かれています。鳥や虫が飛び回り、動物たちが身を寄せ合い、廃墟には数少ない人間の姿も見えます。 その画面から本作は自然と生命の讃歌を高らかに描いた作品のように見えますが、一方で人間社会の破壊と風化、多くの人間の死の様相も呈しています。しかし、そこに残酷さや悲しみや怒りといった感情はありません。ただただ静かに、淡々と朝と夜を繰り返す。花鳥風月に心寄せ、幾星霜の歳月の果て、諸行無常の理に身を委ねる。新世界とは全ての生命が自然と一体化した世界と私は捉えます。 私は現代社会が引き起こすであろう結末や憂いを版にしています。本作「新世界より」ではその結末の先を描いた作品です。人間と自然のあるべき姿は何なのか、生きるとは何なのか、この作品から感じ、考えて頂ければ幸いです。
The New World represents a state of true peace, free of conflict, between humankind and nature. The painting shows human civilization being consumed by trees and thus returned to nature. Birds and bugs fly about, and beasts flock together. In the ruins, a few human figures can be seen. While the painting appears to be an ode to nature and life, it also portrays the destruction and erosion of human society and countless human deaths. However, it gives no hint of brutality or sorrow. In this gentle, dispassionate world, day and night come and go without fanfare. The heart is drawn to the motifs of nature—the flowers and birds, the wind and moon, and, until the very end of time, all things must pass. The New World, as I see it, is a world in which every being is one with nature. In my work, I have represented the fate that awaits contemporary society. In the New World, I represented what comes after society meets its fate. I hope that the work will inspire you to think about how the relationship between humankind and nature should be and what it means to live.

YASUKOCHI HIROYA
4歳の子どもを育てながら銅版画やペンドローングの制作を行っています。 一方で日本版画協会会員として版画の普及にも力を入れています。同協会の第90回記念版画展ではデモンストレーション・ワークショップの運営主任として著名な版画家との連携に従事しました。またその巡回展では企画・運営を主導し、近年では北海道や新潟での開催と現地での自然を版にした子どもから大人まで楽しめるワークショップを実施しました。
While raising a 4-year-old child, YASUKOCHI HIROYA engages in engraving work and sketching with pens. As a member of the Japan Print Association, he works to promote engraving. For the association’s 90th anniversary exhibition, he served as the lead organizer of a demonstration workshop, in which role he collaborated with celebrated engravers. He has also organized touring exhibitions for the association. More recently, he has run events in Hokkaido and Niigata, and held local workshops for children and adults involving engravings on the theme of nature.
